Regarding the polls again...

Posted by CheesyBoy888 - 1 day ago

To anyone who cares enough to answer; How do you feel about the Polls I host Bi-weekly every Friday?

I ask this because I've been reflecting back on them and feel as if I'm under-delivering. I know last poll's drawing definitely felt like a half-hearted effort on my end. I started these polls back when I initially established my online presence on Newgrounds and they were a way of getting my audience to engage with me as well as enable me to draw more. Back then I had much more gusto (even if I wasn't as skilled back then...) Nowadays, it almost feels like I dread them. Not because I dislike them, but because they get in the way of other stuff I wanna work on. (Remember that I also make the candidate graphics and result tallies and top of the drawing itself.) Part of it is to blame for my laziness and lack of planning, but I also let these polls evolve from being quick and casual to something much more involved. This is why I'm asking if you guys enjoy these polls or not. I'm looking to see if they're still worth doing or if I should discontinue them.

I may not be part of your audience, but I can say that engaging with your fans is a very good thing, and with that being said, the polls shouldn't be discontinued. I also engage with the community, in and out of my page, and everyone likes being noticed, they like to be reminded that they are a part of our community.

Seeing you engage with your audience tells me that you care about them as much as I care for the community as of whole. You have even said that you make the graphics for all of this, you put effort. Appreciate the polls as much as for anyone that answers them. I saw the poll you've said you felt that you didn't deliver well and I disagree.

To a self taught artist to another, love your community and love how you can engage with them. And if you feel the polls get in the way on the stuff that you would like to work on, perhaps you could change the polls in your favor, or switch to monthly voting so that you have more time to do what you want to do and then the polls! Don't ever feel discouraged on what you could do, believe in it.

Thanks a lot for the support! It means a lot to read something like this after having my faith in myself waver. Like I said in the initial post, I mainly have myself to blame for the lack of planning ahead and future-proofing for this kind of stuff, but that's also a problem in the first place due to the increased amount of effort I put into these polls so I only have myself to blame anyways lol.

Again, greatly appreciate the kind words. It's incredibly motivating seeing someone care about what I do. Thank you.
